IT has been a busy weekend for Warrington Town with a new signing, several retentions and their first pre-season friendlies.

The newest addition to Paul Carden's squad is a familiar face in the shape of Warrington-born forward Dominic Reid, who enjoyed a spell with the club during the 2018-19 season.

He went onto join City of Liverpool but is now excited to have returned to Cantilever Park.

“I’m really pleased to be back at Warrington Town for the 2021/22 season," he said.

"Pre-season has been tough so far, but we will benefit from it when the season starts.

“I can’t wait to get going again and to be back at Cantilever Park.”

Carden's squad for the coming season is starting to take shape, with several of his defensive options re-committing to the club.

Skipper Mark Roberts and fellow centre-halves Evan Gumbs and Matt Regan will all be involved again, as will full-backs James Baillie and Matty Taylor.

The versatile, long-serving Mitch Duggan and midfielder Bohan Dixon have also signed on the dotted line to stay at Cantilever Park.

On Saturday, the squad was split to play two pre-season friendlies.

New signing Sean Miller was on the scoresheet in a 6-1 victory at Maghull FC, with Jordan Buckley and Luke Duffy also scoring while three goals came from trialists.

Meanwhile, Reid was among the scorers in a 3-1 win over Hesketh Bank – a game in which Duggan scored twice.

Town's next pre-season friendly sees them travel to Wythenshawe Town tomorrow night.
