PAUL Carden says he may have to bring in reinforcements to boost his injury-ravaged Warrington Town squad.

Seven of Town’s squad are doubtful for this week’s games – a home clash with Mickleover Sports on Saturday, kick off 3pm, and a trip to Nantwich Town on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.

Such is the extent of Yellows’ current issues, goalkeeping coach James Speare was named on the bench for Monday’s 3-1 win over Bamber Bridge.

Steve Jennings (leg), Josh Amis (back spasm) and Zac Corbett (broken nose) are the latest players to be added to an injury list that already included Jack Dunn, Shaun Beeley (both calf), Dylan Vassallo (ankle) and Adam Carden (knee).

Despite some positive news on Jennings’ injury – sustained in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Gainsborough Trinity – Carden says reinforcements may be needed.

“We are really low on numbers. Outside of our first 11, we haven’t got too much.” he said.

“We may need to do something with a Saturday-Tuesday coming up.

“We might have to bring at least one in but we’ll have to see what’s out there.

“The first look with Jenno is that it’s not broken, which is good.

“It’s an old injury that’s had a good kicking and is really sore.

“He’s been massive for us. His nous and know-how has been there in abundance so we need him back.

“Jack Dunn is going to up his rehab this week. Hopefully he will be back in a week or 10 days. Dylan Vassallo and Shaun Beeley will be something similar.

“We’ll have to see how Josh Amis settles down but Zac Corbett is out with a broken nose.

“We’ve got Bohan Dixon in the squad who is just working his way back and Adam Carden has done his medial ligament, so he will be a few weeks.

“There are a lot of impact injuries there, which are unavoidable.”

To compound Carden’s squad issues, Louis Barnes will miss Tuesday’s trip to former club Nantwich through suspension after being sent off against Bamber Bridge for two yellow cards.

The left-back’s manager labelled his decision making “a joke” in the circumstances.

“I said to Louis after the game that I can forgive a poor performance, but his decision-making in getting himself sent off was a joke,” he said.

“It frustrated me and I reacted because it was only on Saturday night that we were talking about how good a player he is.

“To get booked for kicking the ball away and then go into a needless lunge and give the referee a decision to make – I just can’t get my head around it.

“He’s let himself down because he’ll find himself out of the team because of a self-inflicted injury.”
