MARK Hilton will start a teaching career at the end of the month after confirming that his playing days are already over.
The 31-year-old prop, who was informed in June that his Wolves contract would not be renewed, has decided to join Great Sankey High School as a mathematics teacher rather than find a new club.
He is looking forward to his new career but is disappointed that a medial knee ligament injury will prevent him bowing out in the way he had hoped, having sustained the injury in an under 21s game last month.
"That's me done," said Hilton. "The sad thing is to finish on an injury.
"I was planning to play for an extra year here if I could, but I wouldn't have wanted to move to another club for a year and I'm proud to say I've been a one-club player.
"A lot of players don't go into a job that's as good when they retire, yet I have something I do love. Teaching is completely different but it's a long-term career and I'm ready to get started."
Hilton joined Warrington as a 15-year-old and played 260 games, scoring 36 tries.
The Mike Gregory Trust Fund will be the beneficiary of Wigan St Patricks select side's home game against Great Britain all stars on September 24 at 1.30pm.
Jonathan Davies will play to raise money for his ex-Warrington teammate, who has a muscle-wasting illness, and current Wolves players should be present.
