GRANGE enjoyed a return to winning ways in their Cheshire Alliance fixtures with both teams securing victory by the narrowest possible margin.

The first XI defeated Trinity at Grange Avenue with their last pair of batsmen at the crease, while the second team did the same against their Trinity counterparts on the other side of the county.

At Grange Avenue, Trinity were bowled out for 178 despite being 82 for 1 at one stage, with the hosts' fightback led by captain Matt Wilcock, 3 for 37, and Liam Fletcher, 3 for 32.

Grange were looking comfortable at 106 for 1 after a fine 61 from Dave Mason but a flurry of wickets left the last pair needing to score three to win.

Nick Houghton, who hit the winning runs in the team's last win seven weeks ago, was the hero again as he took Grange to 179 for 9.

In the second XI game, Trinity ran up 221 for 4 with Adam Peters, 2 for 58, working hard for Grange.

An opening stand of 97 between Neil Stinson and Reece Hampton, 92, gave the Latchford side the platform to push on. Captain Alan Ayling, 29 not out, hit the winning runs with just one ball left.

This weekend the first team travel to face Styal in Division Two, while the second team host Styal in Division B East, with both games starting at 2pm.
