SATURDAY’S Challenge Cup Final defeat will still be hurting and may do for some time.

However, Warrington Wolves must now focus on what remains of the Super League season – and they resume their campaign in a fine position.

The season’s first piece of silverware eluded them at Wembley as they were beaten 18-8 by Wigan Warriors, who now currently hold every trophy available to them in the men’s game.

They are one of the sides The Wire are competing with at the top end of Super League and with 14 games to go, the season has not yet reached its halfway point.

Here is how the Super League table looks ahead of Round 14 this weekend…

Warrington Wolves set for return to Super League action

The Wire’s next test sees Salford Red Devils visit The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday night.

It is an important game not only for Warrington’s own sake as they look to bounce back from their Wembley disappointment and avoid a third consecutive defeat, but in the context of the table too with Paul Rowley’s men just two points behind them.

Revenge may also be on the minds of Sam Burgess’ men given Salford are one of only three sides to beat them this year – Wigan and Catalans being the others – having won 17-12 at the Salford Community Stadium back in Round Nine.

Three of Warrington’s next four games are at home, with Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos visiting in the early stages of July after the international break after Burgess’ side go to Hull FC next weekend.

After the Leeds game on July 11, however, only three of the 10 regular-season games that will remain from that point will be at home.

Warrington still have home and away fixtures against St Helens, Huddersfield Giants and London Broncos to play while they will also play Leeds twice – the Rhinos will be their Magic Weekend opponents at Elland Road on Saturday, August 17.
