WARRINGTON Town are back in action tonight with the aim of improving their record in midweek fixtures this season.

After a rare weekend without action and following a run of three consecutive home fixtures, Mark Beesley’s men hit the road this evening as they cross the Pennines to take on Farsley Celtic.

They do so sitting 10th in the National League North table, four points shy of a play-off place with nine games of their season remaining.

Yellows will be looking to bounce back from a 3-0 home defeat to Southport last time out – a result that extended Town’s struggles in midweek fixtures.

It was their fifth loss in 10 Tuesday league games this season and conversely, they have won just twice in midweek – home and away victories over Buxton in August and January respectively.

One of the three draws they have managed in midweek was against tonight’s opposition at Cantilever Park back in October, when Yellows required a last-gasp header from goalkeeper Dan Atherton to rescue a 1-1 draw having fallen behind to a first-half goal from Celts player-manager Clayton Donaldson.

The Yorkshiremen are in the midst of a difficult run of form having won only one of their last seven matches, with their latest setback coming in the shape of a 3-2 loss at home to Alfreton Town on Saturday.

Farsley sit 16th in the table, six points above the relegation zone.

New date for Peterborough Sports vs Warrington Town confirmed

Another midweek fixture in the run-in for Beesley’s side will be the long trip south to face Peterborough Sports.

That game has now been confirmed for Tuesday, March 26, with a 7.45pm kick off having originally been scheduled to take place on Saturday.

However, the Turbines’ progress to the FA Trophy quarter finals, where they were beaten 3-2 by National League side Gateshead at the weekend, forced a postponement.

It now means Yellows will play four games in nine days up to and including the Easter weekend – the trip to Peterborough will follow Scunthorpe United’s visit to Cantilever Park on March 23.

Town then head to Scarborough Athletic on Good Friday, March 29, before hosting Darlington on Easter Monday, April 1.
