And if he continues to show the kind of form he has displayed over his previous five matches, "The Nuke" will certainly be difficult to bring down.

The former Padgate Academy pupil's overall tournament average stands at 100.29 and he is one of only three players to have a three-figure average across all of their matches. Only Chris Dobey (101.51) and Stephen Bunting (100.29) can boast better figures.

He also has two of the top three match averages in the tournament thus far – his mean score of 106.12 in his first-round win over Christian Kist and the 105.01 he averaged in beating Raymond van Barneveld in the last 16 on Saturday is bettered only by Bunting’s 107.28 average in beating Ryan Joyce in the last 64.

Littler’s 34 180s across his five matches is the fourth-most in the tournament, with two of the players who have hit more facing each other in tonight’s other semi-final as Luke Humphries (36) takes on Scott Williams (37). Dobey has the most maximums so far with 43.
