WARRINGTON Rylands are on the road this evening as they look to extend several impressive sequences.
Manager Michael Clegg takes his side to Bamber Bridge, where they will aim to stay on the coattails of league leaders Radcliffe by extending their unbeaten run in Northern Premier League matches to 12 games.
Radcliffe’s 4-0 victory at Gorsey Lane on the opening day of the season remains the only blot on Blues’ league copybook this season and since then, Clegg’s men have won eight and drawn three of the 11 matches that have followed.
The last of those games saw them edge out Hyde United 1-0 on Saturday, with substitute Joe Piggott scoring the winner just two minutes after coming off the bench.
That was another example of the kind of impact substitutes have been having for Rylands this season – without goals from players coming off the bench, they would be nine points worse off.
Tonight’s opponents Bamber Bridge made it to the brink of promotion to the National League North last season, only to lose the NPL Premier Division play-off final to Rylands’ neighbours Warrington Town in dramatic circumstances.
They have found things tougher this time around and go into the game sitting 17th in the table, but their record on home soil remains a solid one having lost just one of their five league matches at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
Tonight’s game kicks off at 7.45pm.
