WARRINGTON Wolves’ play-off hopes remain in their own hands despite losing to top-six rivals Salford Red Devils this afternoon.

However, they have missed a glorious opportunity to make life easier for themselves over the next fortnight.

The Red Devils kept their hopes very much alive by snatching a golden-point victory over The Wire at the AJ Bell Stadium, with Sam Stone scoring the winning try in the first extra period.

It means the two sides are now locked together on 26 points, with Warrington hanging onto their top-six spot on points difference.

Here is how the table looks following the conclusion of Round 25

Warrington Guardian:

Wire’s superior points difference is a big plus in their favour, as is the fact Salford and Hull KR – the two sides either side of them – face each other at Craven Park next week, so one of them will drop points.

That game takes place on Saturday evening, 24 hours after Warrington have hosted a St Helens side who remain locked in a three-way battle for the League Leaders’ Shield along with Wigan Warriors and Catalans Dragons.

Super League play-off contenders, remaining fixtures
