ALL things considered, Mark Beesley believes Tuesday’s win over Buxton was one of the best of his time at Warrington Town.

A threadbare Yellows side were victorious against the Derbyshire outfit to pick up their first ever National League North home win as they bounced back from Saturday’s loss to Blyth Spartans.

Any late arrivals at Cantilever Park will have missed the game’s only goal, with Matty Grivosti guiding home what turned out to be the winner after just 45 seconds.

With only one senior outfield substitute in Dec Walker, who was not introduced until injury time, available, Town were forced to go with what they had but Beesley was full of praise for their spirit.

“I watched Saturday’s game back and it was just one of those days to a certain extent,” he said.

“We just had to dust ourselves down – we know we’re down to the bare bones but I can’t praise them enough tonight.

“We were outstanding from one to 11 – we’ve only really got 12 with Dec Walker coming back, and we lose Bohan (Dixon) to suspension now but I can’t praise them enough.

“We were excellent out of possession and they were willing to work and put their bodies on the line for each other.

“In possession, we showed our quality – we scored a great goal and we maybe could have scored a few more.

“I think that has to be one of the best performances for us considering the circumstances and where we’re at.

“Everybody knows the situation in that we’ve got no players, but that’s why I don’t want to go and sign players for the sake of it

“I trust what I’ve got in there, whether we have 11 or not. They’re good enough to play at this level and we showed that tonight.”

Grivosti made his first start since returning to Yellows in the summer and was rewarded with a goal as he finished emphatically after being found by a superb pass from Aaron Bennett.

“I’m made up for Matty – he got injured as he arrived at the club and he hasn’t really had a pre-season, the same as Dec Walker,” Beesley said.

“For me to ask him to do 100 minutes was maybe a bit harsh but he’s a fit lad who looks after himself.

“The weight of pass from Beno was beautiful and the finish was great.

“We spoke before the game about having that belief and confidence to work for each other.

“We’ve got a good team spirit and new lads arriving that are happy to come into it.”
