THERE were pre-season victories on the road for both Warrington Town and Warrington Rylands last night.
After defeat to FC United of Manchester in their previous friendly last Tuesday, Mark Beesley’s Town side got back to winning ways against Nantwich Town, who are now managed by former Yellows boss Paul Carden.
Town ran out 2-1 winners, with goals in either half from Connor Woods and Bohan Dixon doing the trick.
Woods’ heavily deflected effort put the visitors ahead at the break before Dixon converted a second-half penalty, with Byron Harrison heading home a late consolation for the hosts.
Town’s final pre-season friendly before the National League North season starts sees them travel to Bamber Bridge – the team they beat in May’s Northern Premier League Premier Division play-off final – on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Rylands picked up another pre-season victory as they ran out 2-0 winners at Wythenshawe Town.
Mo Touray scored both goals for Michael Clegg’s side as they continue to build towards their second season in the NPL’s top flight.
Blues return to Gorsey Lane on Saturday as they host Alvechurch in another pre-season friendly.
