WARRINGTON Rylands continued their build up to the 2023/24 season at Trafford, although a promising performance in a competitive game ended in a 2-1 defeat.
After going close to scoring several times in the opening period, Rylands fell behind in the 19th minute when former Blues player Tom Bentham picked out Ally Brown with a diagonal cross-field pass, and he sent a first time shot flying into the top corner.
With ground bathed in sunshine one minute and soaked in heavy rain the next, the ex-Blue also set up Trafford’s second goal in the 49th minute when his cross found Max Hazeldine, who netted from close range.
Both sides made wholesale substitutions on the hour mark and within three minutes, Rylands had pulled a goal back, Edy Maieco scoring from a tight angle with a fierce drive.
Without finding an equalizer, Rylands finished on top and next take to the field on Monday when they visit Stockport Town, kick off 7.30pm.
Rylands: Pilling, Smith, Swaby-Nevin, Regan, Egerton, Furman, Hardcastle, Neild, Sidibeh, Touray, Maieco: Subs Hough, Hives, Butler, Lewis, Bakkor, Wright, Oppong, Cheneydo, Bailie
