Jono Charlton then turned in a man-of-the-match performance with some excellent edge play to gain a convincing 21-10 victory over Kyle Chapman.

Further wins followed for Woolston supplied by Chris Ashton and Ian Porter.

The middle four jacks saw Alford hit back with wins by Stephen Lea (21-16) and Michael Bishop (21-18), reducing the gap to just 11 shots on the aggregate.

However, Woolston then reeled off the next four victories with the best coming from Steve Peters crushing Danny Roberts 21-7.
