IT will be another change of boat for Warrington’s Lucy Glover in this weekend’s World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne.

The Great Britain coaches have tinkered with some crews during the World Cup rounds and Warrington Rowing Club’s former Lymm High School student has been shuffled twice.

This weekend the 24-year-old, who also competes with Edinburgh University, has been selected in the women’s single sculls, after having finished fourth in the B final of the double sculls alongside Tideway Scullers School’s Saskia Budgett in World Cup Rowing II held in Italy.

Until then, Glover had been a staple of the women’s quadruple sculls crew in recent years and coming through the age groups.

Louise Kingsley, British Rowing director of performance, said: “World Rowing Cup III is our last chance to build on our earlier performances ahead of the World Rowing Championships in Belgrade in September.

“We have some crews who are going into this event unbeaten and some which are still learning and refining as we look to qualify in Belgrade as many boats as possible for the Paris 2024 Olympics.”

Glover was a 2022 European Championships gold and 2023 bronze medal winner in the women’s quadruple sculls.

She started rowing aged 12 at Warrington Rowing Club and won a silver medal at the World Rowing Junior Championships in the quad (JW4x) in 2016.

Moving up to U23 level, she won gold, bronze and then gold again in the women’s quad from 2017-2019.

She made her senior debut at the European Rowing Championships in 2021, where she won a silver medal in the quad (W4x).

The crew then raced at the Tokyo Olympic regatta, where they finished seventh.

In 2022 her W4x finished fourth at World Cup I but she doubled up in double sculls, with Glover winning bronze with Jess Leyden.

The quad then took the silver medal at World Cup III.
