IRIS Hurst led the Warriors of Warrington medal haul as the club’s swimmers produced great results in the Swim England North West Summer Regionals Age Groups Competition at Liverpool Aquatics Centre across two weekends.

Heats were held for all elite swimmers that qualified for the regionals, with the top eight fastest swimmers in each discipline making a finals race to swim again for a podium finish.

Both the girls’ 14-16 years 4x100m freestyle/dedley and 4x200 freestyle teams made it through to this year’s British Championships - a fantastic result, posting a top national time to qualify.

The girls’ 17-year relay team achieved two silvers in their 400m freestyle and medley, with the 14-16 men achieving a bronze in the free and a silver in the medley.

Hurst produced a fabulous all-around individual performance, winning 10 gold medals and two silvers in the 13-year category after racing in 13 finals. Other medal winners were Jasmine Bouaziz (two silver in the 14-year, plus three finals), Kianna Hui (one bronze in the 11-12 year 200m breaststroke), Allanah Donlan (one silver in the 11-12 year 200m fly plus six finals), Emily Hall (two silver, one bronze in the 14-year age group plus three finals), George Daintith (one silver in 15-year 800m free), Ronnie Weal (one gold, 16-year 800m free), Matty Warburton (one gold in 17 year+ 800m free), Kerry Hennie (one silver in 15-year 1500m free), Macy Barker (one bronze in 16-year 1500m free).

There were a number of Warriors that made it to finals, which in the regional championship is an achievement in itself given the elite standard of competitors they faced.

Notable finals achievements were Jan Nazeraj (three), Ella Grace Lawson (two), Olivia Watts (two), Emily Tabern (two), Archie Weightman, Isobel Hitchmough, Amelia Gerrard, Jasper de Glopper and Alex Murray.
