WARRINGTON Town’s season so far has seen them record some incredible statistics en route to Monday’s Northern Premier League Premier Division play-off final.

Among them are the club record 22-match unbeaten run which stretched from mid-November to mid-April and the second-place finish – the highest league position in the club’s history.

However, there is one that perhaps stands out above them all.

In any game of football, the first goal is often key but in games involving Warrington Town, that is particularly the case.

Mark Beesley’s side have established themselves as excellent front-runners this season and are unbeaten in the 22 league matches in which they have opened the scoring.

Of those games, they have only failed to win on three occasions with all of them finishing as 1-1 draws.

They shared the spoils at home to Atherton Collieries in August and Stalybridge Celtic in December having scored first while Gainsborough Trinity also took a point when trailing at half time as they hosted Town earlier this month.

The other 19 games ended in victory, with the last being Tuesday’s 4-1 play-off semi-final win over Matlock Town.
