WARRINGTON Town fell at the first hurdle in the Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night.
After their first-round tie at Stalybridge Celtic finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, nine-man Town were beaten 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out to end their involvement in the competition.
The hosts scored all five of their penalties, with Sean Williams seeing his effort saved by keeper Greg Hall after Bohan Dixon, Declan Walker and Eddie Clarke had all scored from the spot.
Yellows were forced to hold on at the end of normal time after two red cards in the later stages – skipper Josh Amis was dismissed following a clash with Hall after Teddy Mfuni had been sent off for a second yellow card seven minutes prior.
Amis had hauled Town level just two minutes after they had fallen behind to Matty Carson’s effort just after the break.
Town: Thompson, Seary (Clarke), White, Duggan, Mfuni, Walker, Mols (Gumbs), McDonald (Williams), Amis, Dixon, Woods. Sub not used: Harris
