DARYL Powell says there will not be “too many changes” to the Warrington Wolves side that faces Leeds Rhinos on Friday.

However, he did say new loan signing Kyle Amor has “a good chance” of making his Wire debut against Rohan Smith’s side.

Amor’s signing from St Helens boosts the numbers Powell has available, as does the return of Josh Thewlis and Danny Walker from injury.

Despite Thewlis’ return from a knee problem, however, Powell says Gareth Widdop will be given a chance to play at full-back for the foreseeable future with Stefan Ratchford partnering George Williams in the halves.

“The first look at it was really positive, so I think it would be fair to say that,” Powell said when asked if Widdop was set to continue in the number one spot during his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

“Josh Thewlis has done a really good job at full-back but there’s the experience of Gaz Widdop there.

“We’re finding out best combination at the moment and with Stef in there at half, I’ve probably thought for a few weeks it was somewhere I’d like to go.”

One change that does appear likely is the addition of veteran prop Amor to the 17.

The 35-year-old has had nearly two full weeks of training with his new teammates after his loan move from St Helens was confirmed.

When asked whether Amor would be given an immediate debut, Powell said: "He's got a good chance of playing.

“Some of the things he’s said from a leadership perspective have been great.

“He’s been at St Helens, who have been awesome for a few years, and has been a senior player there, so you’d expect some of that.

“He’s brought some real smart bits and things he’s talking about in practice.

“He’s a good guy and a real solid player, so I think he’s fitted in pretty easily.

“When he gets out on the field, he’s going to be important for us."

What Powell did confirm, however, is that Amor will be at The Halliwell Jones Stadium for the remainder of 2022 and no longer, ruling out the prospect of a longer stay.

“I think he’s got his contract somewhere else for next year, so that’s not been discussed or part of the deal.

“He’s here for the rest of the year, we’re pleased to have him and from what I’ve seen, he’s going to add a lot to us over the second half of the season.”
