IT’S ‘Rivals Round’ in Super League and that can only mean one thing – the return of our resident Super League tipster.
Here’s what ‘Mr Predictor’ is thinking ahead of the latest round of fixtures…
CATALANS DRAGONS VS TOULOUSE OLYMPIQUE
A big moment for Super League as the two French sides meet for the first time this season.
Unfortunately for TO, however, I can see this being pretty one-sided.
While they may be rested after a fortnight off, I think running into a Catalans side bruised from their cup defeat to Saints at the weekend will be too much for them.
Prediction: Catalans by 16
WAKEFIELD TRINITY VS CASTLEFORD TIGERS
I’m liking the look of Wakefield under Willie Poching – he seems to be really getting a tune out of them.
They may have lost to Wigan in the cup at the weekend, but I think they’ll bounce back with a close victory in this one.
Prediction: Wakefield by 4
LEEDS RHINOS VS HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS
I’m struggling to see a way out for Leeds at the moment as their search for a new head coach drags on.
By contrast, Huddersfield look to be this season’s bolters and look really solid under Ian Watson.
With that in mind, I’m picking the Giants to take it tonight.
Prediction: Huddersfield by 10
WARRINGTON WOLVES VS SALFORD RED DEVILS
Two sides with identical records and already, you’d say this was a game Wire have to win.
They’ve been pretty shoddy defensively and Salford will seriously test that with their solid-looking halves pairing of Brodie Croft and Marc Sneyd.
However, I think Wire will get back to winning ways…just
Prediction: Warrington by 6
HULL KR VS HULL FC
A tricky one to call this as both sides have been a bit streaky so far this year.
In this kind of game, however, form tends to go out of the window and it comes down to whoever handles the occasion better.
I think it will be another close one, but I think the Robins will just about have enough.
Prediction: Hull KR by 4
ST HELENS VS WIGAN WARRIORS
The ‘sold out’ signs are up at the Totally Wicked Stadium for one of Super League’s marquee fixtures.
Wigan may well fancy their chances if they can get the double threat of Jai Field and Bevan French into the game, but there just seems to be absolutely no give in this Saints side at the moment.
They are far clear of the chasing pack this season and I expect it to show here.
Prediction: Saints by 10
