WARRINGTON RUFC’S latest fixture featured what is believed to be a club first.

The team that triumphed 17-5 against De La Salle on Saturday featured two sets of brothers, with Harry and Archie Kellett lining up alongside Oli and James Hudson.

For the Kelletts, they are the third generation of the same family to feature for the first team, with grandfather Roy and father Andy both going on to captain the club.

Both Hudson brothers kicked a conversion each, with James adding a penalty as all of Warrington’s points came before half time.

Their first try came after 20 minutes when Matt Beeley shimmied over between the posts after a strong carry from Josh Downes.

Downes’ ball carrying was to the fore again for their second and final try as his drive for the line was halted just short, only for Sam Bennett to pick up and drive over.

With the wind aiding their visitors after the break, Warrington conceded a pick-and-go try and had to be stern in defence to repel spells of pressure, but they held firm for victory.

Their next fixture sees them travel to Winnington Park on Saturday.
