DARYL Powell has “a big job to do” in order to get the right kind of tune out of Warrington Wolves.
Those were the words of England head coach Shaun Wane, who called on the Wire players to do much better than they are doing.
Last night saw Powell’s side slip to their first Super League defeat under his charge as they were beaten 24-18 by a depleted Catalans Dragons side.
Wane was watching the match as a guest pundit for Sky Sports and was asked for his opinion on the Wire side under their new head coach following the game.
“If I’m honest, Daryl has a big job to do with Warrington,” said Wane, who earlier this week picked five Wolves players in his first England training squad of the year.
“Without a shadow of a doubt, there’s talent there and I’m sure he will get it out of them, but he’s had one pre-season.
“It’s not coming out at the minute. They have to do better as the talent is immense.”
