MATT Beeley’s try in the final minutes rescued a draw for Warrington RUFC on Saturday.

The fly-half ghosted over the line and added the conversion to ensure his side returned from De La Salle with a 7-7 draw.

It was a result that was about right for a dour game in horrendous conditions, with the wind having a big impact on proceedings.

Playing with the strong breeze before half time, the Salford-based hosts had a couple of chances to open the scoring before eventually doing so, driving over from close range for the only points of the first half.

Warrington sought to use the elements to their advantage in the second half but De La Salle missed the chance to stretch their lead with a penalty before the waves of pressure arrived.

The visitors were camped on the home tryline and eventually, their persistence paid off thanks to Beeley’s try.

Warrington are back on home soil on Saturday as they welcome Southport to Grappenhall Sports Club.
