EAGLE RUFC left it very, very late to book their place in the NOWIRUL Bowl semi-finals on Saturday.
Indeed, they trailed until the very last play of the game at Thornton Road when Danny Griffiths crossed to seal a dramatic 19-13 win over Lostock.
They did that despite being a player down, having had a man sent off just after half time.
Amid terrible conditions, the visitors made the more assured start and stretched into a 6-0 lead with a brace of penalties either side of the break.
Down on the scoreboard and down a man, Eagle were up against it but they rallied, with Griffiths crashing over and Louis Nixon scoring in the corner to put them 12-6 ahead.
When Lostock got themselves over the line two minutes from time to take the lead, a place in the final four looked secure until Griffiths’ last-gasp intervention.
Eagle will face Sandbach thirds in the last four on February 26.
