AFTER another victory on Saturday, Eagle Sports have their eye on the upper echelons of the Cheshire Football League Premier Division table.

A penalty from skipper Adam Coleman earned them a 2-1 win at Crewe FC – their third in as many matches under the joint-management of Danny Nixon and Richard Chinn.

The Thornton Road side now sit seventh in the table and Nixon says consistency is key if they are to chase down those above them.

“We've become a tougher, more organised team in the last few weeks and if we get that right, the quality will come to win matches as we know we have got it within our squad,” he said.

“We've got a lot of football left this season but we look like we are back to somewhere that we need to be if we want to be one of the top teams in this league.

“We just now need to be consistent with it and keep taking points like we have been.”

Having started Saturday’s game brightly, Eagle took the lead when Ryan Fitzpatrick headed home Chris Quirk’s cross.

The hosts dragged themselves level before the break as Josh Lane turned the ball beyond Eagle stopper Liam Marlow from close range after the visitors failed to clear a corner.

However, Coleman made the decisive contribution as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot after Danny Hutchins had been brought down.

“We are delighted to have taken all three points from what is a difficult place to come,” Nixon said.

“Crewe are a hard-working, tough, determined team with a few players who know the league well, so to see us not only match them but have more quality on the day is very pleasing.”

Meanwhile, the Warrington ‘derby’ between Daten and Greenalls PSO ended all square as the sides shared four goals at Charnock Road.

Cameron Jupp and Sam Burns were on target for the Atoms, with Greens’ goals coming from George Farrelly and Connor Spiers.
