“ANOTHER Jekyll and Hyde performance” was the verdict of Lymm director of rugby Adam Fletcher on his side’s loss at Sandal.
Fletcher took a much-changed side to Yorkshire and they returned to Beechwood having been beaten 17-10 as availability continued to hamper them.
Ben Stansfield and Aaron Rasheed were their try-scorers and now, they must turn their attention to the visit of third-place Billingham on Saturday.
“Yes, we did have a lot of unavailability but I know other clubs are dealing with the same issues. The landscape post-Covid lockdown is so different,” he said.
“Weddings, birthdays and weekends away that were postponed are still having an impact with selection. Unfortunately for us, this week it all happened at once.
“We dominated possession in the first half but where we were clinical last week, we were the opposite this week.
“We had a number of opportunities but through poor execution and decision-making, we didn’t take nearly enough
“In fairness to Sandal, they defended their line well and also looked sharp in attack.
“The longer the game went on and the score stayed the same, the more Sandal grew into the game.
“We then tried to force the game a little and made continuous errors.
“A bad day at the office but we dust ourselves off ready for Billingham.”
