PADGATE Tennis & Bowling Club’s Floodlit bowls competition came to a thrilling conclusion on finals night.
After the top 16 players had gathered for the finals, they were whittled down to just two – Larry Wells and John Brown.
It was the former who edged a thrilling final 21-20 to take home the trophy.
Wells’ progress to the final had been pretty serene and his match with Brown looked to be going the same way as he built up a commanding 18-9 lead, exhibiting some superb bowling on short marks.
However, Brown staged a superb fightback, finding his length on long marks to level the match at 20-20.
On the final end, it was Wells who just made it closest to the jack to claim victory.
