LYMM Rugby Club’s Adam Bray celebrated a special milestone in fitting fashion on Saturday.

The flanker was making his 250th first-team appearance for the Beechwood outfit, and he marked it with the final try as his side were comfortable winners over Burnage.

Adam Fletcher’s men were 40-0 victors on home turf, with hooker Rob Makin scoring two of their six tries.

Cormac Nolan opened the scoring with a fifth-minute penalty before grabbing the game’s first try himself four minutes later.

The visitors were defending well in the face of endless Lymm possession, but the pressure eventually told as Harry Martin crossed for his first league try.

Makin then bagged his brace by scoring either side of half time to secure a four-try bonus point, with Nolan converting the latter to take the score out to 25-0.

It is credit to the Burnage defence that Lymm’s next score did not come until 11 minutes from time, with scrum-half Gregor Watson finishing a break to score between the posts.

Then, Bray’s moment came as he was driven over by his fellow forwards for the game’s final try, with Nolan’s last-play penalty wrapping up the scoring.

Lymm’s next North Premier fixture sees them make the long trip to Alnwick on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Lymm’s seconds picked up their first win of the campaign on Saturday with a 22-19 victory at previously-unbeaten Chester

Alan Welston and Mat Gill scored first-half tries for the visitors, with George Anderson adding a conversion to take them 12-7 ahead at the break.

After the hosts had edged ahead with their second try after the interval, some ferocious Lymm pressure then resulted in a penalty try.

A further penalty from Anderson then took Lymm two scores ahead and it proved decisive despite the hosts crossing again in the final minute.
