WHAT a season it has been for Crosfields – and it is not over yet.

By finishing top of League C, Soap have secured their spot in the National Conference League play-offs after winning eight of their 12 games this season.

They will now face Premier Division side Pilkington Recs at Hood Lane in their first post-season game on Saturday.

However, as coach Dave Boden explains, it is a game that should hold no fear for the men from Great Sankey.

“We've hopefully got some players back for next week,” he said.

“We need to beef the pack up a little and be at our best for next week’s visitors.

“They're a Premier side for a reason, but we have had three wins out of four against similar opposition this year.”

Soap secured top spot in their section by recovering from going 10-0 down early to beat Waterhead Warriors 30-18 at Hood Lane on Saturday.

Despite fielding a severely depleted side, Boden was delighted by what his youngsters showed.

There were six Crosfields tries from as many different scorers – Tom Smith, Morgan Williams, Kellen Wood, Ben Mellor, Tyler Whittaker and Ben Stevens all crossed the whitewash while Brad Stanway booted three goals.

“That performance today reflects on the ability throughout this club of our emerging players,” Boden said post-match.

“Their energy is amazing and their composure will develop.

“Today’s game was great – two honest teams with respect for each other.

“One week’s hard work now preparing for next week – we are all looking forward to it."
