BLAKE Austin could feature in the second row again for Warrington Wolves during the play-offs.

Usually a half-back, the Australian lined up on the right edge during The Wire's 20-19 victory over Salford Red Devils on Saturday.

He did himself no harm and showed his creative touch by looping a sublime pass to set up Josh Charnley's first-half try.

With George Williams preferred alongside Gareth Widdop in the halves, Austin's past two appearances have been in the pack – he came off the bench to good effect at loose forward during last month's defeat to Wakefield Trinity.

Head coach Steve Price was happy with what he saw from Austin against Salford and says he will consider utilising him as a back rower again when the knockout games start.

"I asked Austo to hold up that right edge defensively and he did that," he said.

"He had some really strong carries too so I was really pleased with his performance.

"It’s an option for us. The try when he set up Charners – that’s the ability he has, beating the man with a long ball over the top.

"He gives us something different there so that’s something I will consider going forward."
