MATTY Grivosti scored his third goal in as many starts as Warrington Town made it three wins in a row in all competitions.

The midfielder netted the game's only goal just after half time as Yellows beat Gainsborough Trinity at Cantilever Park.

Grivosti, who also scored when starting against Bamber Bridge and Kendal Town, was on hand to convert the rebound after Gainsborough stopper Matt Yates parried Jordan Buckley's effort into his path.

Town boss Paul Carden thought his side were good for the win and believed his side should have had more goals, but paid tribute to them for standing strong as the visitors sought a way back into the contest.

"I thought we had good control and plenty of good passages of play," he said.

"We deserved the win and on another day, we would have scored more goals.

"We created plenty but when you don’t take those opportunities, the opposition are always in the game. They had some moments but we stood really strong.

"If you’re mean and tight at the back, you’re always going to keep yourself in games and that’s what we have been doing.

"On another day, Jordan Buckley goes home with the match ball.

"The goals will come for him though – he’s got pace and power and is a valuable part of our team."

A mouth-watering game follows on Tuesday as Yellows welcome unbeaten Buxton to Cantilever Park.
