IT was tight and they had to come from behind, but Latchford Albion made it two out of two for the season on Saturday.

They trailed Bury Broncos 10-6 at half time on a heavy surface but rebounded to bring a 16-10 victory back to Warrington in Division One of the North West Men's League.

Winger Gareth Fairhurst got Albion’s first try, crossing in the corner after the ball was moved across the line at pace with Matty Rudd’s fine conversion turning four points into six.

However, the hosts got a foothold and after finding space out wide to grab their first try, they touched down again before the break after a kick caused havoc in the Latchford rearguard.

The visitors started the second half strongly, though, and another flowing move led to a second try for Fairhurst.

Matty Ellis set Ben Harper free and he in turn fed Fairhurst, whose pace saw him clear of the covering defence.

On the hour mark, Rudd’s chip over the Bury defence led to second rower Jamie Birchall kicking ahead and touching down to give his side the lead, with Rudd adding the extras.

Albion came under pressure in the late stages as the Broncos looked for a route back into the game, but they held on to continue their perfect start.

Saturday sees Martyn Ellis’ side make the trip to Chorley Panthers for a 2.30pm kick off.

Division Three saw Culcheth Eagles and Woolston Rovers A both lose on the road to Salford City Roosters and Leigh East A respectively.

However, Burtonwood Bridge picked up a win in Division Four as they were 20-12 victors over Clock Face Miners A.
