YOUNG players from Orford Football Club will pay tribute to a youngster tragically killed earlier this week after being struck by lightning while at football training.

Jordan Banks, 9, died after lightning hit the field he was playing on in Blackpool on Tuesday, leading to an outpouring of grief from the footballing community.

Ahead of their game this weekend, Orford's under sevens team will release nine yellow and black balloons – the colours of Jordan's club, Clifton Rangers Junior Football Club – and a number seven balloon in honour of his shirt number.

Players will also wear black armbands during the game.

The club said: "The story has really touched all of the parents' hearts and we are going to do our best on Saturday to show our respects."
