THERE were wins and personal bests galore as Warrington Athletics Club members hit the track at Trafford AC’s open meeting on Sunday.

Lisa Halliday set new marks in the under 17s hurdles over both 80m and 300m – she won the shorter race in 13.64secs and came third over the longer distance in 50.20secs.

In the same age group, Ben Pucill won his 800m race in a new best time of 2mins 19.25secs while Emily Entwistle finished third in 2mins 27.62secs – also a personal best.

Ellie-Ann Tuitt-Williams won over both 100m and 200m, setting a season’s best of 13.32secs in the former and a personal best of 26.48secs in the latter, while Dominic Ellis won over 200m in 26.38secs

The under 20s 800m races saw Joel Birchall go under two minutes for the first time as he won his race in a time of 1min 59.02secs while Ellen Turnbull’s new best time of 2mins 32.57secs was also her best over the distance.

Over a shorter distance, Sophia Rawlinson was third as she finished the 100m in 14.3secs while under 17s runner Grace Collins was seventh in the same race, clocking 15.4secs.

In the 1500m races, Jess Connolly improved her best time by three hundredths of a second as she clocked 4mins 52.50secs.

The older age groups saw Paul Bagan finish fifth in the over 40s 3000m race in 9mins 42.85secs while Neal Petley was fourth in his masters over 50s 100m hurdles race, clocking 17.67secs.

Meanwhile, two more of the club’s masters athletes picked up age group wins at the Run Through Racecourse 10km at Aintree on Sunday.

Cliff Puttock’s time of 39mins 21secs saw him as the first over 55 runner home and finish 43rd overall while Louise Blizzard was just behind him in 52nd – she was the third woman home and the first over the age of 45 in a time of 41mins 24secs.
