AMONG the facts surrounding Greg Inglis' Warrington Wolves debut against Hull KR on Saturday is a rather random one.
Inglis, who became the 78th Australian to pull on the primrose and blue shirt, is only the fourth Warrington player whose surname begins with the letter I.
He follows in the footsteps of Danny Isherwood, Geoff Irwin and Barry Ibbotson.
Isherwood was a top-class centre who played from 1896 to 1908, making 297 appearances and scoring 45 tries. He was a Challenge Cup winner in 1905 and 1907.
Irwin, a forward, and Ibbotson, a winger, only made one appearance each - in 1958 and 1961 respectively. Ibbotson, like Inglis, scored a try on his debut.
> Lots more Greg Inglis content from his Warrington Wolves debut
So not only is Inglis now The Wire's oldest debutant in the Super League era, taking the record off Mike Forshaw at 34 years and 109 days, he is the only player of the summer era so far with a surname starting with the letter I.
We did warn you it was a random fact!
