STEVE Price has given his seal of approval to the man who will succeed him as Warrington Wolves head coach.
On Tuesday, The Wire confirmed Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell will take over at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on a three-year deal starting next year.
He will replace Price, who will return to Australia with his family after his fourth and final season in charge of the club.
Commenting on the appointment, Price says Powell will be “a great acquisition” for the club and that now, everyone can move forward and focus on the remainder of 2021.
“I think it’s a great acquisition for our club,” Price said.
“He’s built a strong reputation in the British game, especially over these past eight years at Castleford.
“It’s great that the club has got on the front foot so everyone is clear and has an understanding about 2022, whether that’s coaches or players.
“He’s a well-respected coach in the game and as I said, it’s a good acquisition.
“Everyone can move forward now and everyone knows where they stand.”
