IT is fair to say Gareth Widdop probably dreamt his Warrington Wolves debut would go better than this.
A cold afternoon in Wakefield on a heavy pitch surrounded by storms is a far cry from what he is used to, but Wire fans got their first glimpse of the club's new marquee signing in their colours.

It was all smiles before kick off...
And even as the teams came out for warm-up...
Time for action as the players emerge from the tunnel...
Time for the talking to stop and the action to start...
After an attritional first hour, things looked promising when Widdop had a hand in the move that sent Stefan Ratchford over for the game's opening try...
Unfortunately though, that was as good as it got...
After two late Wakefield tries, it all ended with glum Wire faces trudging back to the dressing rooms...
A penny for the man on the left's thoughts...
