EAGLE ran unbeaten Isle of Man side Douglas close in South Lancashire/Cheshire Three on Saturday.

Eagle, who travel to Parkonians on Saturday at 2.30pm, produced a creditable display against Douglas and only trailed by four points before a last-gasp try following a mistake by the home side.

Douglas took the lead with a penalty and then crossed in the corner but Eagle reduced the deficit to a single point at half time after several drives led to Danny Shaw touching down between the posts.

The visitors scored a second try while Eagle had a man in the sin bin and then added a penalty but Andy Brown crossed to make it 16-12 before Douglas' late try.

EAGLE met Warrington for the first time in many years but were beaten in Saturday's Miller Homes League Division Four West fixture.

Warrington's third team scored from a scrum to open the scoring and added a second try before man of the match Jason Kiernan crossed for Eagle's seconds.

Eagle, who host Tyldesley's third team on Saturday at 2.30pm, could not add to their points tally in the second half, even though Warrington had a prop sent to the sin bin, and the hosts added another try to seal victory.

MOORE recovered from two successive defeats to claim victory against Newton in South Lancashire/Cheshire Three on Saturday.

Ferguson put Moore ahead after 15 minutes after Christie had won a line-out and Lester supplied the telling pass but Newton responded with a penalty.
