SOME excellent individual displays helped Warrington Athletics Club secure their Youth Development League title on Saturday.

They won the final Division North West 3S match at Victoria Park thanks in no small part to treble victories from Evie Schofield and Meg Corker.

Schofield set new personal bests in the A 75m and 70m hurdles races – clocking 10.3secs and 11.2secs respectively – while a leap of 1.33m won her the A high jump in the under 13s age group.

Corker clocked 11.2secs in the under 15s A 75m hurdles and 26.2secs in the A 200m to win both races and a throw of 15.93m was enough to win the discus event.

In the same age group, Amelia Smithers won both the B 200m and B javelin events while Olivia Chamun (A hammer and A javelin) and Molly Wormald (B 300m and B hammer) were also double winners.

This was certainly a productive age group for Warrington’s girls, with Orla Gregory (A 800m), Maisie Bell (B 800m), Eva Ferris (A 1,500m), Lucie Davies (B 1,500m), Lisa Halliday (B 75m hurdles) and Georgina Smethurst (B discus) also taking out victories.

The under 13s saw Lacey Turner have a double win in the B 70m hurdles and A long jump while Harriet Bell and Esme Heavey ran excellently to win the A 1,200m and B 800m respectively.

There were victories for the boys too, with Corey Beechall and Lewis Shaw both claiming double wins in the under 13s age group.

Beechall took out the A 75m hurdles and high jump while Shaw was victorious in the B category for both events.

Zak Chamun took the A shot putt and javelin victories, with Rory Gregory winning the B javelin and Jack Marwood and Jacob Pryor winning the A and B races respectively over 1,500m.

For the under 15s, Ben Pucill was the only winner as he was victorious in the B 800m race.

Elsewhere, Dan Richardson was in action at the Trafford Grand Prix for Sprints and Jumps, setting a new personal best of 51.92secs to finish second over 400m.
