WARRINGTON have reinforced their promotion credentials with a win at previously unbeaten Lindow.

The thrilling one-wicket victory for the Walton Lea outfit ended in dramatic circumstances, with final pair Rob Batey and James Rudd surviving a run-out scare to win off the final ball.

Two runs were needed off the last delivery and after Batey drove down the ground, Lindow had the chance to run Rudd out and win themselves but failed to remove the bails.

Warrington were asked to field after losing the toss, but openers Batey and Brad Roden and turned the screw and picked up some early Lindow wickets.

Both finished with two scalps while Rudd took 3-44 as the hosts were eventually dismissed for 202.

Will Fleetwood led Warrington’s run-chase with a responsible 57 and he was the ninth wicket to fall with 14 runs still required, thus setting up the dramatic finish.

Meanwhile, the seconds maintained their own promotion push with a comfortable win over Brooklands, who were restricted to just 115-8 thanks to three wickets from Simon Hewitt and two each for Isaac Webster and Dan Rudd.

Shashwat Rusia top-scored with 38 as Warrington won by six wickets.

The thirds also beat their Brooklands counterparts by six wickets, with Mahtab Alam and Abdul Javed hitting unbeaten knocks of 78 and 52 respectively in pursuit of 177 to win.

Elsewhere, Grappenhall lost again but put in a much-improved batting display at Toft.

Ben Bodha’s patient 72 was the highlight as Grappers batted first and were bowled out for 188, with Will Fell contributing 34.

However, the bowlers struggled and despite Adam Roylance picking up three wickets, Toft chased down the total with nine overs to spare for a six-wicket win.

The seconds did better against Toft at Broad Lane as they secured a winning draw, with Iain Wright’s superb 94 helping them to 210 all out.

The Toft batsmen dug in and ended 50 runs short of their target, with Stanley Pennington picking up three wickets and Alex Perry claiming two.

The thirds almost bowled their way to an unlikely victory as they came close to defending their first-innings total of 143 all out.

They squeezed the Cheadle batsmen but the hosts eventually edged to a two-wicket win with just three balls to spare.

Meanwhile, Appleton finally climbed off the foot of Cheshire Cricket League Division Two with a high-scoring draw at Wilmslow.

Joe Cooper claimed 3-44 as Appleton restricted their hosts to 211-8, raising hopes of a first win of the season.

Ali Sharif top scored with 67 while Amir Aslam’s half-century helped Appleton to maximum batting points before running out of overs with the score on 187-7.

The seconds hung on for a draw against Barnton, with the final pair surviving a testing final over to close on 152-9 in pursuit of 237 for victory.

The thirds lost by five wickets despite reducing leaders Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge to 16-4 in pursuit of 106 to win while the fourths were skittled for just 86 in defeat to North East Cheshire’s seconds.
