FORMER Warrington Wolves forward Joe Westerman has been speaking about his remarkable bravery during last night's Hull derby.

The loose forward – now playing for Hull FC – appeared to suffer a dislocated knee during the 18-10 defeat to city rivals Hull KR after a tackle from Rovers prop Mose Masoe.

However, Westerman put his knee back into place himself and continued playing, even making the next tackle.

Former teammates and fans alike took to social media to laud the 29-year-old's bravery but he was quick to brush off the severity of the injury.

β€œIt’s sweet, to be honest. I expect to be training next week and I can’t really see myself missing our next game against St Helens next Friday,” Westerman told Hull FC's official website.

β€œI just twisted in the tackle and Mose Masoe came in with the chop and my knee just popped out. There was no malice in the tackle or anything like that.

β€œI looked at my leg and saw my knee cap on the side and I felt like I had to just smack it back in.

"It wasn’t really an excruciating pain. It freaked me out more than anything because it looked so weird.”

Westerman joined The Wire from the Black and Whites ahead of the 2016 campaign and played for the club for two years before leaving for Toronto Wolfpack.
