Barrow Island Women 18 Warrington Wolves Women 38

AFTER gaining revenge on Barrow Island, Warrington Wolves Women are on course to test themselves against Super League opposition.

A 38-18 victory over the team that beat them on the first day of the Championship season allowed Lee Westwood’s side to progress to the Women’s Challenge Cup quarter finals on Sunday.

Themselves and League One outfit Keighley Albion are the only teams from outside Super League to reach the last-eight, making a first ever meeting with a top-flight side likely.

Defending Super League champions Wigan Warriors, current leaders Castleford Tigers and Challenge Cup holders Leeds Rhinos are among the potential opponents for the Wire Women along with Wakefield Trinity, Bradford Bulls and St Helens. The quarter-final draw takes place on Monday.

Michelle Davies scored a try and kicked five goals for Westwood’s side at Barrow, with Danielle Bound crossing twice.

Rebekah Wilson, Roxy Murdoch, Sally Conyers and Beth Cox were Warrington’s other try-scorers.
