ONE of the biggest junior football events in the north west will take place at Eagle JFC in July.

The annual Eagle JFC Tournament will be held at Penketh High School over the weekend of July 20-21 and see more than 1,000 children from across the region battle it out for the silverware.

Ken Lawrenson, Eagle chairman, said: "The Eagle Junior Football Club tournament is going from strength to strength, with more than 144 teams and 1,300 players expected this year.

"Teams come from all over the north west and North Wales to take part, which is testament to its growing popularity."

As well as the football matches, there will be entertainment for the family with food and drink stands, football shooting competitions and a gin bar.

There will be tournaments for children in age groups from under six to under 12s.
