PAUL Carden has stressed the “massive, massive importance” of having the town behind his Warrington Town side through their play-off campaign.

Yellows face Nantwich Town tonight in the semi-finals as they aim to put last year’s play-off heartbreak behind them and secure a place in the National League North.

To do that, this will be the first of three more games they will have to win and with ties only being one-legged, home advantage is key.

Town have it and Carden is keen to make it count both on the pitch and on the terraces.

On the whole, Yellows’ average home league attendance has increased by a third this year to 416 as word of their success has spread.

“Looking at the way the gates have improved this season, it’s a huge achievement,” Carden said.

“It’s down to the players drawing them in. Word gets out, people bring their mates and they bring theirs and so on.

“That’s how it grows and that’s what we want.

“As always, the diehards are out in force and you can hear them whether there’s 20 of them or 70 of them.

“They’ve been great all season, but it would be nice for a bumper crowd to come and for us to give them something to want to come back for.

“We want everything to grow. We don’t want to rest where we are – we want to continue the growth of the club.

“Having the town behind us is going to be of massive, massive importance.”
