WARRINGTON Athletics Club members descended on Sheffield for the Northern Cross Country relay championships on Saturday.

The men’s under 17s team enjoyed the best result, with Joe Buckley, Jordan Jones and Isaaq Ataullah combining to finish fourth in a total time of 21mins 37secs.

Jack Marwood ran the joint-fastest time in the boys’ under 11s race as he clocked 4mins 57secs, helping teammates Jacob Pryor and Spencer Astbury to a total time of 16mins 3secs to finish sixth.

The boys' under 11s team ran well to finish in sixth place.

For the girls, twin sisters Sinead and Cara Gregory teamed up with Esme Heavey and all three ran well to finish 18th as a team in 18mins 17secs.

Two teams were entered into the girl’s under 13s race, with Lucie Davies, Molly Wormald and Emily Entwistle forming the ‘A’ team.

They came home 15th in a combined 19mins 9secs, while the ‘B’ team of Alice Nicholson, Evie Owen and Harriet Bell clocked 21mins 8secs to finish 33rd.

The girl’s under 15s race saw Jess Connolly, Orla Gregory and Eva Ferris form the ‘A’ team and their time of 25mins 5secs was good enough for 12th place, while there was an incomplete ‘B’ team of Maisie Bell and Jasmine Jones as they had no third-leg runner after the latter finished her run in 36th place.

Completing the day was the senior men’s race and Warrington again had two teams involved.

Tom Greaves, Luke Gamble and Nick Jones formed the ‘A’ team and finished 21st in 46mins 15secs, while the ‘B’ team of Jack Stubbings, Colin Bishop and Dave Norman were 32nd in 49mins 27secs.

Elsewhere, Paul Bagan travelled to Lytham St Anne’s for the Green Drive road race and completed the five-mile course in 27mins 39 secs, which saw him win the over 40s age group and finish fourth overall.

Much further away from home, Warrington Athletics Club member Jack Green ran well in the baking Australian heat at a Sydney Milers Club meeting, finishing sixth in the 3000m by clocking 9mins 7.52secs.
