FORMER Warrington Wolves coach Richard Agar has returned to Super League after a year in the NRL.

Agar, who left his role as assistant coach of The Wire following Tony Smith's departure last year, has been appointed as head of player and coach development at Leeds Rhinos.

The former Hull and Wakefield head coach had been part of the performance team at St George Illawarra Dragons for the 2018 season, but now will now oversee the development of the Rhinos' academy, scholarship and women's sides.

Agar joined The Wire in 2014 after the departures of previous assistants Richard Marshall and Willie Poching and spent four seasons as Smith's right-hand man at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
