Altrincham Kersal u15 5 Warrington u15 54
HAVING won the Lancashire Cup last year, Warrington’s under 15s started the new campaign in the same vein.
The scoreline was perhaps not a true reflection of the game as hosts Altrincham battled gamely, but it was evident that confidence in the Warrington team is high.
Several long-range tries were scored as a result of slick handling deep inside their own half having previously been put under pressure by their opponents.
That allowed them to run up a big scoreline in a game that was played in almost complete silence.
As the game marked ‘Silent Sunday,’ parents and coaches on the sidelines had to kerb their comments.
Warrington captain Isaac Baldwin thinks it helped the team as they have had problems communicating with each other.
“We’ve struggled in the past with communication between players,” he said.
“I think the quiet from the touchline encouraged the players to talk.”
Warrington have one more game before the defence of their Lancashire Cup title begins in the qualifying stages.
