JAMES Guy has taken his Commonwealth Games medal total to four with a silver medal in the men’s 100m butterfly on Monday morning.

The former Cardinal Newman High School pupil clocked 51.31secs to finish second behind South Africa’s Chad Le Clos and take his medal haul on the Gold Coast to three silvers and a bronze.

Guy had finished ahead of Le Clos in their semi final to raise his hopes of winning gold, but the South African rebounded to break the Games record in the final.

His other two silvers came in relay events as he helped England to second place in the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays, with Australia winning gold on both occasions.

The former Warrington Sports Personality award winner’s bronze medal came in the 400m freestyle race when he finished behind Australians Mack Horton and Jack McLoughlin.

Elsewhere in the pool, ex-Warriors of Warrington swimmer Kathleen Dawson finished sixth in the 100m backstroke final on Saturday.

The former Great Sankey High School pupil has two more races tomorrow – the 50m backstroke final at 10.50am before she forms part of the Scotland team for the 4x100m medley relay at 12.43pm.

Warrington para-swimmer Jacob Leach added a fifth-place finish in the SB8 100m breaststroke final to his eighth place in the S9 100m freestyle earlier in the week.

Leach lines up in the heat for the S9 100m backstroke at 1.55am tomorrow, Tuesday, with the final later that morning at 11.47am.
