WARRINGTON Rowing Club’s Lucy Glover and her Great Britain teammates set the pace in their heat at the World under 23 Rowing Championships in Bulgaria.
The 18-year-old Lymm High School Sixth Form student is part of the women’s quadruple sculls crew alongside Tideway Scullers’ Saskia Budgett and Nottingham duo Anna Thornton and Kyra Edwards.
Competing in the first heat in Plovdiv, Glover and her teammates beat Australia into second, followed by Holland, Poland and New Zealand.
With Glover in the stroke seat, Great Britain qualified in the fastest time of 6mins 32.9secs and advance to the A final, which is due to take place just after 4pm UK time on Saturday.
