WOLVES boss Tony Smith has given an update on the fitness of loose forward Joe Westerman ahead of Saturday’s Challenge Cup Final.
The 26-year-old injured his ankle and was taken off early in last Saturday’s 14-11 win over Castleford Tigers.
Westerman, who was on the losing side in the 2013 Wembley showpiece while playing for Saturday’s opponents Hull FC, sat out training today, Tuesday, to receive treatment on the injury but Smith was in optimistic mood.
“Joe’s not bad, he’s coming along and his ankle is settling down,” he said.
“We’re pretty confident about it and he is feeling good about it as well so we’ll see how it goes in the next day or so.
“He’s got another day of treatment so as long as he’s able to run okay on Thursday he’ll be fine.”
Smith also confirmed injuries to Daryl Clark (finger) and Ryan Bailey (thigh) will not keep them out of Saturday’s game.
