A PROMISING Warrington footballer has earned a dream opportunity to earn a living from the game ‘across the pond’.
Ryan Botell will head to the USA next month to take up a scholarship at the Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi.
While there, Ryan will get the chance to combine university studies with playing high level football for the Pearl River Wildcats for the next four years.
He currently plays his football for FC United of Manchester but says moving stateside is the best thing for his career.
“I chose the USA to further my career as it allows me to continue my education in a positive way whilst at the same time keeping my ambition to be the best I can at football or should I now say soccer!” he joked.
“It gives me a real opportunity to still make it as a professional.
“I’m most looking forward to playing at a very good standard of football, training five days a week in sunny weather in great facilities with quality coaches.
“The coach explained what I had to do to achieve my ambitions of breaking into the MLS (Major League Soccer). He made me feel wanted and welcome at Pearl River.”
